Microsoft to triple Xbox 360 distribution

Distribution of the Xbox 360 will increase by two to three times per week, Microsoft has announced. Beginning this week, Microsoft will supply retail channels with the extra consoles as it aims to stay on target of shipping between 4.5-5.5 million units by June.

Microsoft is able to ship more Xbox 360’s than ever before now that third party manufacturer Celestica has joined other partners, Wistron and Flextronics, in the full production of the console.

Peter Moore, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, said it was a turning point for the Xbox 360.

“Today we have turned a major corner,” he said.

“With more consoles on their way to retail, 80 games available by June, and new content and experiences coming to Xbox Live all the time, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360.”
