Australia prepares for Xbox 360 launch
In Australia, Microsoft will introduce the Xbox 360 with an official launch party. The event will take place in Sydney on March 22 in preparation for the midnight release of the new console on March 23rd.
Many stores across the country will open late as gamers eagerly await the consoles release, four months after it was launched in North America.

To celebrate its release, Microsoft is offering a free game to everyone who purchases an Xbox 360 on launch night.
The launch party will take place at the Pitt Street Mall, beginning from 9pm and be complete with free food and live entertainment.
A number of Xbox 360 consoles connected to large LCD screens will also be on show to give visitors a taste of what to expect.
Australian pay-TV music channel, Channel V, will film the official launch party while radio station Nova 96.9 will broadcast the event live.
Millions are expected to be spent this year in a marketing war between Microsoft and Sony, who recently announced a worldwide November launch for the Playstation 3.
Microsoft has an eight month head-start in a battle with Sony for the leadership in the sale of next generation video game consoles.
Pre-order figures released by Microsoft indicate that $30-$40 million worth of Xbox 360 consoles and games will be sold on launch night, not including the sale of accessories, which Microsoft anticipates to be very strong.
From March 23, the Xbox 360 can be purchased from over 700 stores across Australia at these authorized major retailers: Big W, David Jones, Dick Smith Electronics, Dick Smith PowerHouse, Domayne, Electronics Boutique, Gameswizards, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Kmart, Myer, Target and Toys ‘R’ Us.
