Microsoft release Asian launch prices for Xbox 360
Microsoft have announced launch prices for the Xbox 360 in Asia. The new machine will go on sale from US $380 for the premium package and US $300 for the core system in Taiwan and Hong Kong in less than 50 days.
Those who want to secure their Xbox 360 are now able to join the pre-order program to ensure they do not miss out.
Alan Bowman, General Manager for Asia Pacific and Greater China Region, Entertainment & Devices Division at Microsoft, said the Xbox 360 will bring the highest quality gaming system in the world to Asia.
“With its awe-inspiring graphics, audio and online play, Xbox 360 slams gaming straight into the life force of mainstream entertainment in Asia.
But gaming aside, Xbox 360 is an unrivaled entertainment system that allows consumers to play music, watch movies, share photos and enjoy other digital content. That’s unprecedented entertainment right out of the box,”
he said.
The launch into Asia will consist of up to 15 games, significantly more than the 6 Microsoft released upon their launch into Japan. The games are expected to be priced at around US $38.
The premium Xbox 360 package will come complete with the console, 20 GB hard drive, wireless controller, Xbox Live headset, hi-definition AV cable and Ethernet cable. The more basic core system will come including the console, wired controller and composite AV cable.
All Xbox 360 purchases will come with a silver subscription to Microsoft’s online gamine service, Xbox Live. At launch, consumers will also be able to receive a free 30-day trial with the gold service.
“In addition, all existing Xbox Live gamers can jump right into the Xbox 360 online community for free. With Xbox 360, we will connect every Asian gamer to the thriving community of two million online gamers around the world,”
Bowman said.
The Xbox Live Premium Pack, which includes a headset, two arcade games (’Bankshot Billiards 2′ and ‘Joust’), 100 Microsoft points and a three-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, will go on sale from US $35.
