Australian Xbox 360 pre-orders to begin Dec 8
The Xbox 360 will be officially available for pre-order in Australia from next week. Microsoft today announced that participating retailers would begin to take pre-orders on December 8 in preparation for the highly anticipated launch of the new console, which is set for one minute past midnight on March 2, 2006.
Following a sell out opening first week in the US, a similar response is expected Down Under. David McLean, Regional Director of Xbox Australia, said customers’ best option was to pre-order the next-generation console in order to maximise their chances of getting an Xbox 360 console.
“We will be working closely with our retail partners during the pre-order program to best meet the anticipated high Australian demand,”
McLean said.
“We are currently on track with our manufacturing plans, with enough volume to support the Australian launch. However given the unprecedented demand shown in other parts of the world we would obviously encourage keen customers to pre-order their Xbox 360.”
The recommended retail price for the Xbox 360 is AUD $649.95.
Those who opt to pre-order the Xbox 360 will also be able to purchase the Xbox 360 VIP Premiere Pack, which includes leading launch title Perfect Dark Zero, an additional wireless controller, a limited edition faceplate, a DVD of upcoming releases and interviews and access to an Xbox 360 VIP Premiere Club website for RRP AUD $149.95.
“The VIP Premiere Pack is specifically designed for gamers,” McLean said.
“These are people who are going to want an additional wireless controller, a great game and an insider’s account of the Xbox 360.”
Microsoft has also announced that the recommended retail price for Xbox 360 launch titles Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing and Kameo: Elements of Power will be AUD $99.95.
