Disappointed gamers report defective Xbox 360 consoles

Following the much-hyped US release of the Xbox 360, reports of defective consoles have begun filtering through. Some gamers, many of whom queued for hours to get their hands on an Xbox 360, have complained of games freezing, systems overheating, hard drives not working, disk drives scratching games and consoles shutting down for no apparent reason.
In a telephone interview with Reuters, Molly O’Donnell, senior manager of global Xbox public relations, played down concerns, stating that,
“We have received a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected […] With any launch of this magnitude, you’re bound to see something happening.”
Whilst she declined to reveal the exact number of complaints received thus far, O’Donnell said they represented a “very, very small fraction” of the total number of Xbox 360s sold.
In separate comments to gaming website GameSpot, O’Donnell stressed that most Xbox 360 owners were happy with their purchase, commenting that,
“The vast majority of Xbox 360 owners are having an outstanding experience with their new systems.”
Any gamers who do experience problems with their Xbox 360 console are advised to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX for technical support.
Should repairs or a replacement Xbox 360 be necessary, customers can expect to receive a fixed or replacement system in approximately 5 business days.
