Perfect Dark Zero: Limited Edition for Japan

Microsoft has announced at X05 that Rare’s “Perfect Dark Zero” will be released to the Japanese market on December 10, and will feature a full Japanese localization. Microsoft has also revealed that the game will be priced at ¥6800.

Microsoft and Rare seem to be doing all they can to garner Japanese support for the FPS launch title, despite the Japanese market’s traditional preference for RPG and action-adventure games such as “Kameo: Elements of Power.”

Rare’s senior designer, Duncan Botwood, has compared “Perfect Dark Zero” with the popular Japanese film “Battle Royale”, which featured a group of 50 people on a remote island attempting to kill each other off.

Botwood stated in an interview that PDZ’s online multiplayer mode would function in much the same way, and hoped that the popularity of “Battle Royale” would see many Japanese signing up to experience PDZ’s multiplayer capabilities.

Microsoft has also enlisted Japanese singer/actress Yumiko Shaku as the voice of Joanna Dark, and a limited edition version of PDZ featuring a special comic book, metal case, limited lithograph, bonus DVD with concept art and more will be given to the first 30,000 Japanese consumers to purchase “Perfect Dark Zero” for the Xbox 360.
