A guide to ESRB video game ratings for Xbox 360 games
ESRB video game ratings are a US standard used to indicate game content and recommend which age range particular video games are suitable for.
Obtaining an ESRB video game rating is voluntary for games publishers, however, the vast majority elect to have their video games rated by the ESRB.
Most upcoming Xbox 360 games will also have ESRB video game ratings to indicate game content and age suitability to parents and mature video game purchasers. The Xbox 360 launch titles have already been given ESRB ratings.
A list of the ESRB ratings and a brief explanation of their meanings and age suitability recommendations is given below.

| EC | Early childhood | Ages 3 and older | Contains no material that parents would find inappropriate. |
| E | Everyone | Ages 6 and older | Minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild violence and/or infrequent use of mild language. |
| E10+ | Everyone 10+ | Ages 10 and older | More cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language, and/or minimal suggestive themes. |
| T | Teen | Ages 13 and older | Violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood and/or infrequent use of strong language. |
| M | Mature | Ages 17 and older | Intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language. |
| AO | Adults Only | Ages 18 and older | Prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity. |
| RP | Rating Pending | N/A - Titles listed as RP have been submitted to the ESRB and are awaiting final rating prior to release. | N/A |
