WOW!!! I was able to purchase 3 xbox 360’s within the last 48 hours from of all places Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Thanks for having the leak on Best Buy.
I and a slew of parents had been at Target an hour before they opened every day for the past week on rumors from the employees that they expected to get a shipment prior to Christmas. Well, they haven’t. I just happened to stop in and try Wal-Mart again for the tenth time this week during lunch the other day and found they were fully stocked on xbox 360’s. I asked one employee where the line started and she stated they didn’t have any which I quickly corrected her by pointing to them within the display case. I purchased a premium system for 399 and then went to Best Buy to purchase accessories on my reward zones card. While at Best Buy I ran into one of the parents from our morning support group at Target’s door in zero degree weather and directed him to Wal-Mart. I then took my new prize home and went back to Wal-Mart about 30 minutes later and was able to buy a CORE system - with the intent to providing a system for one of the other parents.
I then read the LA Times article on the leaked Best Buy plans to sell more xboxes by having the Manager On Duty asking customers as they entered the store if they would like an xbox. File this away and pass it along to the other parents.
The next morning at 7 AM I joined the group at Target and only one person in line wanted to purchase the CORE system for what I was asking - that’s right I sold it at cost (eat that you freaking eBAY jerks) - $299 + tax = $315. One more xbox under the tree for Christmas.
I told the others about a possible shipment at Best Buy and they were content to stay at Target in the cold so I took a couple of cell phone numbers and headed to Best Buy - arriving at 8:05 and was greeted with the question I had hoped for “do you want an xbox 360″ - you bet and they handed me ticket number 16 of 30.
I quickly called both numbers of the parents at Target and they had just received the word there were none available there and quickly several headed over to Best Buy. I held the ticket I was given until all the parents that were coming from the other store arrived and received their own. There was a grandfather that I had spent many a morning with that I wanted to make sure got one. After he arrived and got his own ticket, I called a friend that wanted one and he said go ahead and get one for him.
That’s three for me with two going to real people for Christmas with no profit made and several other parents satisfied.
Thanks for having your site here and having links to the LA Times article regarding Best Buy and what they were planning on doing this week.
For all you brats out there turning a profit (like the Kmart employee who attempted to get me to buy the xbox 360 he put on eBAY), I thought you might want to see what like is like in the Midwest - were we help our neighbor versus sticking it to them.
