Probally still a ways off but very much possible, even within the current technology. My guess is some sort of solid state tech similar to the USB Thumb Drives. Works everywhere, small, stable & rugged. Imagine a 100GB thumb drive!

I know there are utilities out there that allow you to load you web browser or IM among other programs onto a thumb drive including all prefs & favs allowing you to run them right off the thumb drive no matter what PC you plug it into.

It would be so cool if this tech could evolve to include all digital content, software, data, movies, music. You could use it anywhere. It would be great!
